Membership in the Rotary Club of Kelowna is in many ways a privilege and an opportunity that can bring you considerable fulfillment. Since 1928, the members of The Rotary Club of Kelowna have been serving the needs of our community with distinction. Rotary is after all, a service organization whose motto is 'Service Above Self'. To become a member requires a commitment on several levels:

ATTENDANCE

Rotary, for a variety of valid reasons, places significant importance of your regular attendance. It is your responsibility to maximize your attendance. We have several members who spend considerable effort making our weekly meetings enjoyable and interesting. There will, of course, be times that you cannot make a meeting, but there are various opportunities to make up that absence.  Rotary International's policy regarding attendance requires members to attend 50% of the weekly Rotary meetings.  Attendance credits can be obtained by:

  • Attending Rotary committee meetings,
  • Attending social events of our Rotary Club,
  • Attending meetings of other Rotary Clubs,
  • By attending a meeting of a Rotary e-club.

Committee Work: We have numerous committees, all of which are doing work that we, as a club, have decided is worthwhile. Members are given an opportunity to choose the type of committee work that interests them. Once you have been assigned to a committee, you will be notified by your committee chair that you are on that committee and they will tell you about the first meeting. If, for some reason, you are unable to make a meeting, it will be your responsibility to let the committee chair know that fact before the scheduled meeting. Your consideration is this regard will make their job considerably easier.

Fellowship: Lastly, it is important that we all take some responsibility for maximizing the pleasure that we will derive from being a member of our club and for making the Rotary experience for others a pleasure.

Our club motto this year is 'Be a Gift to The World'.  Your contribution toward fellowship events and your attendance at these events and at the meetings really is appreciated by your Rotarian friends. We will endeavor to expand that fellowship to members of our families and close friends.  Our club has a tremendous potential to be a rich part of your social life.

Note: To make the experience more enjoyable for new members, the club has processes in place to bring you into our family so that you will find the comfort level that will best suit your needs. Give us a 'look', come to a meeting; it will be one of the best decisions that you will make.
