President’s Report November 15, 2014
Greetings from the California desert to all you shivering Okanagan Rotarians, and to those of you who are still basking in the sun somewhere—(we know who you are!) The Rotary Club of Kelowna wheel continues to turn at a rapid rate; our club was represented at the City of Kelowna Remembrance Day ceremonies, thank you Randy McBride! I’m told that prior to Gord Savage departing for the medical mission in Ethiopia, he chaired a spirited meeting around RI Foundation. (Check our website for Gord’s reports on this amazing mission.) On October 28 Ross Gilley chaired a lively and productive meeting around our Rotary Club of Kelowna Foundation’s Annual General Meeting: I am continually reminded of the significant contribution in time and talent that many of our members (John Hannah, Gary Bennett, Karen Hill, to name but a few) have put forth to make our club a meaningful force in our community. This week we are in for some real entertainment, with a self-admitted immature senior as our guest speaker on the 18’th, and on the 25’th, we are holding what promises to be a riveting, action-packed, and potentially life-changing (for some) Annual General Meeting. And if you think that all of this is not exciting enough for you, please take a look at our website again and see the candid and revealing photos taken at the Freddy’s Brew Pub social event last week. What a great turnout, and what a great event; thank you to our organizers-- Karyn and Jaime in particular. I look forward to seeing you at our meeting on Tuesday, I’ll be the retired guy with the peeling nose over the microphone.
