At our Club meeting last week, we welcomed our local MLA and Club member, Steve Thomson to share with us. In something a bit different, Steve provided a presentation on his career in rugby and how life experiences travelling to different countries and representing Canada has helped shape his approach to work and now his role in politics as MLA for Kelowna Mission. The presentation reflected on stories from Uruguay, Argentina, and South Africa mixed with some entertaining videos featuring the New Zealand Haka and recent Rugby Sevens action. As a member of government, Steve was instrumental in bringing the World Cup of Rugby to Vancouver two years in a row. Steve claims that his passion for rugby and his 24 years of involvement in the sport taught him four things that have guided his personal and political life: Teamwork; Loyalty; Work Ethics; and Flexibility.
