Last Week's Speaker
Our speaker this week has had a long successful history in the electrical construction business.
Klaus Reichwald was introduced by Bruce Telford and thanked by Catherine Comben and in between he gave us a detailed account of his business career. In the 1950s he started as an apprentice in Edmonton at the Southern Alberta Trade School. In 1961 he has a strong memory of his boss giving him the day off to go to lunch at the MacDonald Hotel which was a turning point in his career as it turned out that he was recognized at that luncheon and identified as a Poster Boy for the electrical trade.
Twenty years later he was invited to join the Downtown Rotary club in Calgary and has been a member for 33 years. After fifty years in the trade and having developed a very successful business in Alberta and Saskatchewan, he spends time in Calgary, Kelowna and Arizona, being a welcomed active member and temporary member in three Rotary clubs.
Klaus emphasized the importance of trades in Canada's growth. He was very emphatic that it is important to ensure that his company was honest and worked hard to ensure customer satisfaction. He made sure that his workforce were promoted and grew from within and is proud of the fact that he has had many father son employee relationships. His has strong ethical beliefs which have earned him and his company a very good reputation and he is ensuring its continued growth by handing over the reigns of the business to partners.
