The Kelowna Rotary Club invests in our future leaders by funding scholarships & literacy programs. Here are just some of the programs our funds support.
$25,000 Okanagan College Foundation for the Trades Building Program
As the second largest trades training centre in British Columbia, Okanagan College makes a real difference to the local, regional and provincial economies by preparing job-ready trades workers for business and industry.
“Everyone counts, and Okanagan College has become a beacon for students from all walks of life who seek educational support to improve their lives – professionally, personally, and economically.”$30,000 Strive and other Scholarships
Must graduate with a 60% minimum, course average and has qualified to a post-secondary institution.
“For students who are struggling with life and need help getting back on track. Rotary is committed to helping young people who need an opportunity to rise above life’s difficulties."$3,000 Central Okanagan Bursaries & Scholarship Society
Two $1,500 student scholarships for achieving very high academic standards and demonstrating fine citizenship qualities.
“Rotary’s support in establishing ways and means to assist students to further their education or training and to fulfill their vocational ambitions, is consistent with our message of helping our youth become the best they can be.”$2,000/Yr x 5 Yrs. Gorman Bursary Scholarships
An annual bursary to worthy welding students at Okanagan College in Memory of Ross Gorman.
“The Bursary for Welding ties in with the expanded trades programs, the new trades building complex and helping those in financial need. As well as The Rotary Club of Kelowna’s partnership with Gorman Bros in their 2 annual Vocational Bursaries for Licensed Practical Nurses.”$1,500 Public Speaking Contest
Grade 6 & 7 Public Speaking Competitions involving as many as 13 schools.
“If ideas are not communicated properly & effectively, they can be misunderstood. We believe that learning how to speak effectively through the power of persuasion is a very important life skill.”Student Moch Interviews
Rotarians donate their time for Moch Interviews with KSS students, to help prepare them with the real-life experience of job interviewing.
