If there was any doubt that the Rotary Club of Kelowna has a vibrant and engaged membership it was
put to rest at last Tuesday’s meeting. This assembly took on a life of its own, in no small part because of
the support I had received from and the culmination of work by my Rotary family. My heartfelt thanks
goes out to Peter Schultz, whose contribution started the first day I became involved with the idea of
assemblies a year ago. For my own part, I wish to thank Tony French and Kathy Butler without whom I
would have been lost in this endeavour. And a shout out to Carol Eamer and Julie Mulligan who helped
me navigate the challenges of the questions.

Three questions, 69 responses, and 484 dots. This assembly was the work of many hands and my thanks
goes out to the entire membership for their participation. The results of your responses will be collated
into themes and form the foundation for our strategic plan for 2019-2020. Next month we will have a
club meeting where I will bring you all up to speed with where you see the club going. Of all the banal
platitudes and sage advice, I have been given over the past months the most relevant seems to have
come from Bill Redmond, “have fun god damn it”.

A full and proper thanks and appreciation that this assembly was even possible goes out to Raghwa
Gopal who’s thoughtful and contemplative influence has enriched my year as President-elect and
started me down this road.

This Tuesday we will look forward to Kathy Butler’s talk about her International Service Role and Rick
Potter will bring us his experiences from his trip and tour of Israel.

See you all Tuesday. “The place to be in Kelowna at noon”.
