Greetings Rotarians,

What a great Sunday in Kelowna!

Great speakers at last week's meeting. Julie Mulligan did her classification talk and showed us some amazing pictures of her travels around the world - especially her trek up into the Himalayas. Our guest speaker was own member, MLA Steve Thomson. Steve gave us an update of whats happening at the legislature - some of the current issues being debated are Proportional Representation, Speculation Tax imposed for Kelowna and West Kelowna, Employer Health Tax, ALR, Ride Sharing and more.

The guest speaker for the coming week will be Danielle Hofer from Women's Enterprise Centre - and this being the Foundation Month, Doug Gossoo will talk about Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation transforms your gifts into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world - so if you haven't made a contribution to Rotary Foundation this year, this would be the time to do it!

It was so good to see Dick Dumond at the meeting on Tuesday and he also attended the Board Meeting on Thursday to present the budget to the Board. I would like to take this opportunity to recognize a few individuals who really stepped up to help out when Dick was sick - a huge shout out to Tony French and Ken Laloge for helping us with Treasurer duties and getting our year end done. And to Julie Mulligan - who not only volunteered to help Dick but also took on the wreath sales project.

If you haven't registered for the District Conference for next year, here is a great offer:
Register for the 2019 District Conference in Kamloops by November 30, 2018 and you could win your registration cost (excluding activities fees)!  Already registered?  Your name will also be entered into the draw.

And don't forget our AGM on Nov 27th.

Happy Sunday and see you on Tuesday,

Raghwa
