Greetings Rotarians;

Here’s looking forward to another great week in Rotary - our meeting to be presided by our Vice President Lenetta Parry. Guest speaker this week will be Mike Gawliuk. Mike is the Director of Service Delivery & Program Innovation at CMHA. He will be providing an update on the Foundry project. Also speaking this week will be Chris Patton - this will be a very inspirational talk. We will also have Paul Zuurbier - Executive Director of Project Literacy - updating us on their Raise-a-Reader Pancake Breakfast fundraiser.

Last week we had a great update on the Journey Home project from Dave Krysko. Dave also talked about how he got involved in his journey of helping the homeless. We also heard very briefly from Chiarra - our exchange student and Bruce Telford provided notice of Rotary Club of Kelowna Foundation's Annual General Meeting - to be held at noon on Tuesday October 23rd.

On a sad note - yesterday we were told that our Treasurer Dick Dumond had suffered a major heart attack and is admitted at KGH. I did go to see Dick today at the hospital and got a chance to speak to Shirley for a few moments. Dick has not regained consciousness after the stroke - but Shirley did say that he was doing "much better today". Let's all pray for a very speedy recovery for Dick.

And, as I mentioned at the meeting last Tuesday, I have been seconded by the Provincial Government for a short assignment that will take me to UK & Germany for the next 3 weeks - so Lenetta and James will be presiding for the next 3 meetings. Hope to see you all on Tuesday Oct 9th.
