At today’s luncheon we saw four new members inducted into the club by Michael Lowen. Michael welcomed the new members and explained the requirements of membership in Rotary. Each new member’s sponsor introduced the new member with a biographical background. Below is a brief outline of the inductions.

Ralf Rohlack was today’s Sherriff and recognized many of the members for their contribution to Rotary. Chuck Cey was the winner of the bottle of wine.
We had two classification presentations from Peter Harasym and Raghwa Gopal.
Peter Harasym
Peter is a retired Professor from the Faculty of Medicine from the University of Calgary specializing in Vocational Guidance and counselling program that led to PhD in psychometrics. His research focused on how expert physicians organize their medical knowledge and what mental strategies experts use to correctly diagnosis medical problems called Clinical Presentation (CP). Peter travelled the world conducting workshops explaining the advantages of the CP curriculum.
Raghwa Gopal
Raghwa explained that he came from a very poor village in Fiji where he and his seven siblings struggle with poverty and little opportunity to attend school because of costs. He was the youngest and there wasn’t money for him to continue school but his Mother taught him perseverance by sending him to school every day even though they sent him home because of non-payment; eventually the school got tired of sending him home and allowed him to stay. This perseverance helped him in later life. He eventually arrived in Kelowna and through his perseverance found a partner and established a successful software company in Kelowna and after selling this business created another successful company in India before returning to Kelowna.
