Norm joined us on August 1st to share a glimpse of his life story through family, politics, career, and some thoughts on the challenges and opportunities facing our Canadian health care system. Living the Rotary way of service above self has been a priority for Norm all his life including many volunteer and political positions most recently terminating in four years as BC’s Minister of Agriculture; the longest tenure since Corky Evans and in BC Liberal history.
Prior to being in the BC Cabinet Norm had achieved candidacy status toward a PhD in Health Economics and has plans to complete the doctorate now that he sits in opposition. His brief discussion on Health pointed to the history of our system, its value proposition relative to other OECD countries, some ideas for improvement, and possible strategies for their implementation. Norm finished the time allotted by answering a few questions.
